Big Sale
Sunday, March 1, 2015
9AM - 4PM RSVP
StoreFrontLab invites you to Big Sale, a one-day event on Sunday, organized by San Francisco-based KIDmob. Big Sale welcomes streetgoers of all ages to participate in a series of purposefully vague and mysterious transactions that adapt the familiar language of commercial advertising and consumer desire. KIDmob has reimagined this framework as a cashless transaction market that builds community, tests social and interaction-based art and designs through the exchange of not-your-average, store-bought goods.
With an eye towards celebrating all of the things that life characteristically provides free of charge through the context of clearance, Big Sale asks participants to engage in an atypical commerce, the kind where "the deal" is a shared glance or a new skill, and "buy three to get one free" is a waltz with a stranger or exchange of ideas and advice.
KIDmob is a mobile, kid-integrated design firm that believes design education is an opportunity for creative engagement and community empowerment. The Bay Area-based, fiscally sponsored not-for-profit brings an innovative approach in design thinking to local communities and schools around the world.
KIDmob workshops facilitate partner organizations in devising imaginative solutions for their community, by their community, to foster long-term local stewardship.
